On July 21st, 2026, the Embassy of China in the Sultanate of Oman held a reception in Muscat to celebrate the 99th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army(PLA). The event was attended by approximately 230 guests, including H.E. Lyu Jian Chinese Ambassador to Oman and the embassy staff, representatives from the Omani government and Sultan of Oman’s Armed Forces, overseas Chinese enterprises and institutions and Chinese community in Oman.

Defense Attaché Wu Xinyan stated in his address that this year marks the 99th anniversary of the founding of the PLA and the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army’s Long March. China also recently celebrated the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. The international and regional landscape is facing severe challenges. President Xi Jinping has put forward four propositions on safeguarding and promoting peace and stability in the Middle East, which has won broad support and appreciation from countries across the region. The Chinese military has actively participated in United Nations peacekeeping operations and escort missions in the Gulf of Aden, making positive contributions to international and regional security. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the state-to-state and military-to-military relations have continued to strengthen and deepen. We are confident that, through the joint efforts of both sides, China-Oman friendship and cooperation will achieve even greater progress and inject new momentum for peace, stability, and development in the region.
